This week (Lesson 73) will be our final UFLI lesson for the year.  The UFLI at home practice was sent home today.  

The school Fun Fair, which is put on by St. Philip Parent Council, will be on June 24.

Also, the Scholastic Book Fair begins on Monday.  Our class will be going on Monday during Block 2.  Students are invited to bring in money if they wish to purchase books/items from the book fair.  The Book Fair flyer was sent home last week.  Please send in any money in an envelope or a Ziploc baggie with your child's name and amount on it.  Also, if you'd like your son/daughter to purchase something specific, please send them with a list of specific books/items.  This helps the boys and girls stay organized, as the book fair can be quite exciting!  

Our St. Philip Open House will be on Thursday morning starting at 9:30.  All families are welcome to attend.

Today, Holy Thursday, begins the Easter Triduum.  Today we remember Jesus' institution of the Holy Eucharist at the last supper, tomorrow (Good Friday) we remember his death on the cross to save us from our sins, and Holy Saturday we prepare to celebrate his resurrection from the dead at Easter!  

I wish all Grade 2 Families a fruitful rest of Holy Week and a very happy and blessed Easter!

The Primary (and Kindergarten) Division is very fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in Gym Jam Tennis Workshops this week, and next week.  Our class workshop dates are April 23, and April 25.

Good morning Grade 2 Families, We are very blessed to have our Scientist in School workshop this morning for students - "Properties Really Matter"!  This is a wonderful opportunity for the boys and girls to have some hands on experimentation with a real scientist presenter.  A huge thank you to school council with providing the funding for this workshop!

I sent home a hard copy letter with all students today regarding our upcoming Family Life focus: Fully Alive Theme 3 (Created Sexual: Male and Female).  This is a very important letter to review as it provides a great deal of information for parents.  We will begin the Fully Alive theme/unit on March 24.  Please reach out to me should you have any questions.

Hello Grade 2 Families, 

I apologize for the delay in sending this email, as I did not have access to my Grade 2 class in School Messenger until today.  Thank you very much for the warm welcome back to St. Philip.  I have greatly appreciated these first days with your children and getting to know each of them better.  I provided each student with an agenda yesterday and sent home a welcome/introduction letter.  I will also attach a copy to this email as well.  Please click on the link below to view:

Students will be receiving UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Institute) at home practice each week starting today.  I will normally send this home with the students on Mondays.  The activities consist of word focus for both reading and writing, as well as a reading passage/text.  The activities do not need to be returned to school; however, they will directly focus on what we are working on each week in the classroom with respect to reading, phonics, and word focus.  Please take the time to complete and review these activities at home each week with your child.  This extra practice is an important opportunity and helps strengthen the home-school connection with respect to your son/daughter's learning.      

Details regarding our class blog can be found in my welcome/introduction letter.  I try and post updates, upcoming dates of importance, and our current classroom focus on the blog.  I have yet to update our current classroom focus, but I will do so shortly.
